Great choice for a remote
I purchased this remote about two months ago and so far I have loved it. You can set it up in a basic sense where you just allow the standard buttons to populate the LCD screen or you can fully customize the remote so that you only see those buttons you use the most. The web interface is straight forward and easy to use. You can even setup sequences where you can program a series of events to occur. I have not had any issues with the charger or remote at this time. Currently my wife find it easier to use and so does my young son.
Harmony 880 is a winner
I've purchased and used dozens of universal remotes over the years, including a few of the expensive touch screen models, and ended up giving them away because I just did't like the way they worked. I started using the Logitech Harmony 880 almost 4 years ago, and it is the one that I've kept. I actually have three of them in different rooms at this time. I've given these as gifts on three occassions. I also recommend this one to anybody who asks which one to get. It is easy to setup, and their database of products is quite extensive and has always had whatever device I needed. Except for the remote control fan that I had to program in using the learning mode. The only complaint that I have is that the charging cradle can be a little finicky with where you place the remote in it for charging. If you don't get it right, it won't charge. The newer 880s seem to have less issues than the earlier ones that I've had, but it is still something to be aware of before purchasing. But if you need a remote with the absolute best feeling buttons, look at the Home Theater Master MX-500. It is more difficult to program, but the buttons have a wonderful feel to them. I've not used any other models in their lineup.
Generallys works fine, but some hiccups
This is my first univeral remote. I like that I can program it to turn on multiple items at one time (TV, receiver, HDMI switcher, HD-DVD player). Sometimes though, it doesn't always turn them all at the right time and things get thrown off. I sometimes still use my original remotes, but this one has definitely made the turning on and off much more straight forward. Of course, it can't control my PS3, but I knew that going in.
Awesome
The 2nd remote worked great right out of the box. I just entered my components into the harmony software and it did the rest. The first remote i got the volume up and channel down didn't work. Harmony sent me a new remote and everything was taken care of.
