Works like a charm!!
I placed the RF transmitter without charging the battery in my Comcast DVR/Cable remote and it worked anywhere in the house. Also worked in an el cheapo JVC DVD Player. Note that you only get one RF transmitter in the kit. Extras are available on Amazon.
Don't bother
Obviously the reviews are written by the company that makes it. Works if you are in the same room, otherwise VERY spotty. That is why these are only available online, too hard to return. If bought at a B and M, it would go back 90% of the time.
Technologically challenged or just too techy?
I bought this product for our new home theater to solve the problem of having the components located on the other side of a framed wall. After all the reviews I decided to give it a go. I received the device yesterday, let it charge for 24 hours and set it up (a 3 year old could complete the task...pretty easy). I have an Onkyo 606 receiver (just purchased) whose remote can control the receiver, my Time Warner (scientific atlanta) cable box and the Blu-Ray player. Pointed at the units, the Onkyo remote works great and can control all 3 devices without incident. With the remote control extender installed in the remote, the Onkyo receiver works great from inside the theater. Cable box -- nada. I see on the instructions that I may have to flip the switch to "A" to control some cable boxes. I do this and now the cable box can be operated from the remote. But does the receiver work from the remote? You guessed it, no. Maybe some Amazon tech savvy person can help me out here, but it appears that I can control the receiver *or* the cable box, but not both -- thus making this device completely useless. If someone can help me out, this devices deserves a 5-star rating.
Good buy for the price
We really weren't sure before ordering the product if it would work to suit our purpose, but it truly has. We mounted our flat screen tv, and then wanted to hide the cable hd box and vcr in our closet and it works great. Of course you still have to keep a separate remote handy for the dvd player, but still works great.
trash
This item made its way into the trash can very quickly... The directions were terrible and we couldn't get the dumb thing to work. I guess you get what you pay for and I'll have to spend a little more money to get something that actually works.
