Product Description
Optical Digital Interface Cable provides superior accuracy for signal trasfer of digital information from component to component. This cable is an excellent complement to your component entertainment system. Better definition and true clarity. It is specifically engineered for a digital signal data transfer. For highest quality signal transfer in digital components using Toslink optical to Toslink optical connections. The optical signal offers more digital information at higher speed and only a cable manufactured with glass fiber will provide this extra data. Because the information is converted into light impulses that are sent over the fiber optic cable, the signal is immune from RF or magnetic interference. Fiber optic Toslink connections are used on high-end stereo equipment and often seen on MiniDisc players & recorders. Can be used for high quality signals found in: CD, DVD players, VCD, LD, DTS & Dolby Digital Audio Receivers, MD, Digital Audio PC, Divx, DAC, Digital Satellite, Digital Receivers.
Perfect on my system
This cable has worked great for me. I use it to connect my HDTV to my stereo and my Playstation 2 to my stereo. Previously, I've always used coaxial digital audio (DVR to stereo and CD player to stereo). The TV and PS2 don't support coaxial, only optical, so I had to go with this cable. The cable works perfectly. Much, much better than the far pricier alternative. I've had no issues. Since you're moving digital, quality of the cable is irrelevant. So long as the light can make it, you're good to go. Optical is superior to coaxial here, because there's no potential for RFI/magnetic interference, so the quality of the cable is even less relevant.
Cheap but works
Picked it up for .99 on here which is great but shipping was nearly $5. The cable itself is pretty cheap. Its thin, lightweight, and the connectors are weak. Still, it works.
I like them
I heard such mixed reviews on these, I had concerns about the purchase. However, I took a chance, ordered two, and I am glad I did. These are as good as any other optical cables I have used(I have two others). The sound is fine and they connect just great. Since these are not a name brand, (mine came in an unmarked plastic bag) I do wonder if everyone is getting the same cables or if they are sent those made by various manufacturers.
Is this a toy?
What I actually received was an "Optical Cable lite", as stated on the plastic bag, not what is named/ described This cable is about 1/10 the thickness of the Targus $2 cables I'm using in my living room. The thickness of the end housing is about 3/4 of my other cables. With such small amount of protection around the wire, it's can't have the same protection that more standard cables have. It's the rubber around the wire that keeps your cables from interfering with one another. I don't know how they work yet, but these are NOT exactly like Monster Cables, as stated in some reviews I've seen, or any other standard cables I've ever used or seen, as the description lead me to believe. I'm really disappointed. I thought I was getting a high quality cable, similar to other cables I've purchased on Amazon, but this is not made anywhere nearly as well and it's as it's been skimped on in the amount of covering to protect the wire, I don't have high hopes that any part of it was made with any quality. I bought two, so I paid two shipping fees
a bargain
works like a charm.you would be nuts to pay what some stores charge for this.
