Mini-DVI to DVI ADAPTER! Exactly what it says it is!

I just got a 24" iMac 3.06 after my 9 year old custom PC died. It was time anyway and having been an early adapter of Apple computers, it was time to return to them. I will be using Fusion 2.0 to run Windows XP Pro on the iMac since all my business software is Windows. So having a very nice 21" ViewSonic monitor, I knew from reading up on the iMac that I would be able to use it as a second screen just by plugging it into the back of the Mac. Of course, I did NOT expect a full size DVI-D plug on the back after looking at pictures of the back of the iMac online, so I knew I would need some sort of ADAPTER to be able to use the cord that came with the ViewSonic. This is that ADAPTER. I keep capitalizing ADAPTER because apparently some reviewers here are confused over just what this product is. It is an ADAPTER which goes from the cable your second monitor already has on it or came with it to the back mini jack on the back of your Mac. It is NOT a full size monitor cable. Doesn't say it is and doesn't pretend to be. I work in the world of film and video and we use hundreds of different ADAPTERS to hook things back and forth into equipment. It's part of the job since there are so many different pieces of equipment and they all seem to have their own plugs. So folks, read up on what you need. Apple does make other ADAPTERS to fit other cables. Just make sure you buy the right one and you'll be fine. But make sure you read up on it and see what you need. There are other ADAPTERS and cables offered here on Amazon that will work too and some that are longer. But you will need a monitor cable with the right sex and right pin configuration to use this ADAPTER with your iMac. As far as the ADAPTER is concerned. It works. It's a little pricey but hey, it's Apple. And as of this writing, they've dropped the price here so that even with shipping, it's cheaper than ordering it from Apple online or picking it up at a local Apple Store if you have one near. With mine, I plugged it into the ViewSonic DVI monitor cable, switched on the Viewsonic, turned on the iMac, and BAM, there they were. Adjusted the screens using the Mac's System Preferences and I'm now happily using double screens. So if you need it, buy it. It works!

Just what I expected

The product is exactly what I expected and works as anticipated. Shipping from the vendor was very acceptable. I'm pleased with this purchase and this vendors ability to deliver what they promised.

Good product, Why 3, don't fill my hdtv 1080p

I bought this product because I wanted to view my macbook in my Panasonic HDTV 1080p at 1920x1080 px , but this product don't fill the TV like PS3 does, it put the high resolution but let one inch of margin in all the sides of the TV, Is expensive for a adapter and if you want to put you mac on a VGA monitor need to buy another adapter, even if you want to put a movie in a old TV have to buy other adapter, its a shame that apple don't make this directly to HDMI because you need to buy a DVI-D Male to HDMI.

It does the job.

This adapter does exactly what it's supposed to do - lets you hook a large desktop monitor up to your Mac laptop. No problems.

Does what it's supposed to, but a bit short

This product works fine and does exactly what it's supposed to do---connects my Macbook to an external display. My only beef is that they could have made it full length so that you wouldn't need to use another another DVI cord with it.
