Customer Reviews for Monster HDMI 1000HD Ultra-High Speed HDMI Cable (2 meters)

Read the reviews, did the tests, still confused

I have a SONY Bravia 46Z, 120Mhz model, paired with the SONY S350 BD and a SONY 576 A/R system. I got the Monster 1000 cable from the Point of sale, but after reading all the Amazon and other reviews, also bought 2 other 1.3a $10 HDMI cables. I was very conviced that my side to side testing would reveal no difference. Well, I hooked up the Monster 1000HD2M cable on one HDMI input of the TV and the other ($10 1.3a) HDMI cable on another HDMI input. I sat down my wife and daughter (a very scientific approach I guess) and started exchanging cables with the Dark Knight on the BD drive. I also repeated the same experiment with the Curse Of The Golden Flowers BD, to make sure I test all the color schemas - amazing film, a must see. I would run the same clip of the films - about 1-2 minutes and then also freeze the picture at the same frame for comparison. Results: Wife: Could not tell the difference, most of the time she would actually prefer the $10 cable over the Monster cable. Got tired after 30 minutes of this and even though she was predispositioned to "get the exspensive one just to be sure" at the end she was saying - "if I cannot tell the difference, then what the.." Daughter and myself: This is where it gets interesting. I started with the predisposition "I want to prove that there is no difference, because I hate being ripped-off by Monster or anyone else for this matter". The strange thing is that both my daughter and I noticed the same thing over and over, and COULD tell the difference, albeit exptemely subtle. We could both tell which cable was being run, by the subtle extra brightness of specific scenes and slightly, almost imperceptible, but existing, extra shine of certain objects in the frame. The sharpness, audio quality, colors and other picture attributes seemed identical. Only this slight extra brighness. I did not expect these results, I was hoping to find no difference, even though the test is not a scientific one, it is one that does count since I am the one who will be watching the output from my couch everyday. I also tested the connection with the two different cables over the Satellite (Dish Network HD Receiver) and the Bravia TV. In this setup, no differences could be found - what-so-ever. I am tempted to go with the $98 dollar AMAZON priced Monster cable for the Blu-Ray connection and the $10 1.3a standard cable for everything else. The two stars is because of the absurdly high price, even if htere is a difference - still borderline convinced. Can somebody attempt to explain why my daugter and I have been able to spot a difference, even if subtle, between the two cables?

Go w/ expensive/good cable

I see the the reviews are split here. I had second thoughts about paying extra for the monster cable. In the end it was well worth it. Why pay all that $$$ for an expensive TV and go w/ cheap cables? I got an HD cable box and tested it out w/ cheesy vs monster cable. From my experience, I can honestly say that the monster produced alot clearer and more natural picture. Im now a believer of expensive/ high quality hdmi cable. Even tested it out on my PS3 and noticed the difference as well. This is my 2nd HDMI 1000HD cable. For those that are against expense cable I suggest testing it out for your. Im extremely satisfied w/ these cable. EXPENSE CABLES ARE THE WAY TO GO!!!

Don't Believe The Haters.... Monster products outclass everything else!!!

Bottom-line: Monster is the best there is! There is a reason it outsells everyone else. There is a reason why it sounds better, looks better, and performs better. Because IT IS THE BEST!!!! The other companies are completely outclassed. As a producer, musician, and technical professional, I have used and tested every company there is.... Hands down, Monster always gets the job done. They've pioneered the technology and raised the bar. Companies that can't compete just write blogs and try to change peoples minds. But, the fact is, what you get what you pay for. And, with Monster, you get the best! I have Monster in my home and my recording studio. It is the STANDARD. If you want something cheaper, go get it. There's plenty of products out there. Go get them. But, I guarantee that you won't be satisfied and that eventually you'll be back to Monster. This cable is GREAT!!!!!! Don't be fooled or misled. This is the cable you want for your home theatre. Monster is the best!!!!!!

DONT BUY EXPENSIVE AV CABLES

A/V Cables are a racket, you don't need the expensive ones. This is a classic example. HDMI is a DIGITAL format. It either works, or it doesn't, PERIOD. Ones and Zeros. The concept of an analog signal improvement just does not exist with HDMI, so "gold tipped" is not only wasteful, it is stupid. Go buy that cheap 3-ft HDMI cable for $1.99 from monoprice, it will work fine, it will be exactly equal to this $130 cable, and you won't feel stupid for having sent $128 to the cable Mafia.

Other HDMI cables have same spec and are much cheaper

I have purchased two Monster 1000HD Ultra High Speed 2 meter HDMI cables and I am very pleased with their performance. Monster HDMI 1000HD Ultra-High Speed HDMI Cable (2 meters)The picture quality of LCD TVs is great. I use the cables to connect blue ray players directly to the TVs. I purchased one at Circuit City for $129 and one on Amazon.com for $56.43 plus shipping. However, along with most of the other reviewers, I find Monster cables to be expensive. I need two more cables and I have reviewed other manufacturers' web sites to find HDMI cables with the same specifications at a lower price. Here's what I've found: Amazon.com offers Impact Accoustics (www.impactaccoustics.com) Cables to Go Velocity 2 meter HDMI Digital Video Cable. Cables To Go - 40315 - 2M (6.6ft) Velocity HDMI Digital Video Cable (Blue)It has substantially the same materials and specifications and is listed for $13.37. Specs which are the same on the Monster 1000HD and the Cables to Go Velocity: 10.2 Gbps bandwidth to support 1080p, HDMI 1.3 certification, support for 7.1 surround sound, shielded conductors to protect against electromagnetic interferance (EMI) and radio frequency interferance (RFI), 24 karat gold plated connectors. The Impact Accoustics web site does not list Nitrogen Gas injected Dielectric, like the Monster site does for the 1000HD. To maximize video strength and maintain precise 75-ohm impedance, nitrogen gas is injected into the dielectric insulator, creating uniform, microscopic cells. This allows the conductor to rest in the exact center of the cable, even when the cable is bent, for the sharpest picture possible. HOWEVER, even more interesting for the video/audiophile is the price/feature/specification comparison between Monster's premium series HDMI cable called the M series. The 2 meter Monster M1000 HDMI cable ($98.61 on Amazon) Monster M Series M1000 HDTV HDMI Cable (8 ft. / 2.43 m.)and the 2 meter Cables to Go SonicWave High Speed HDMI Cable ($45.24 on Amazon) Cables To Go - 40280 - 2M Sonicwave HDMI Digital Video Cableboth offer substantially the same features and specifications - HDMI 1.3 Certification, 10.2 Gbps bandwidth to support 1080p, support for 7.1 surround sound, advanced cable design, top-quality materials and superior construction. Performance-enhancing features of both include silver-coated oxygen-free copper (OFC) conductors with nitrogen-injected dielectric, 24-karat gold-plated connectors with silver-solder construction, and durable, protective metal connector shells. Two 80%+ OFC braids and 100% overlapped Mylar® foil combine for full shielding against EMI/RFI interference. Conclusion: regardless of what type of HDMI cable you ultimately choose for your application, there are cables available for far less than Monster is charging for the same performance. If you are in the market for an HDMI cable, Cables to Go offers much better value for your dollars than Monster.
