I have a Sony DVD player that is a few years old. I also belong to one of those movies by mail companies. Although I would clean each DVD when it came, more often than not my DVD player wouldn't play the DVD. I could take it in on my computer and play it with little or no problem, but that's not nearly as comfortable as stretching out on the couch. I was going to either end my membership in the rental place, or purchase a new DVD player. As a last resort, I purchased this cleaner and it worked exactly like the directions said. Memorex CD/DVD-Player Laser-Lens CleanerOur DVD kept stopping in the middle of a movie and would not continue playing. It is a year and a half old Panasonic VCR DVD Player. We were about to give up and thought as a last effort to buy the cleaner. It would not play in the player and kept giving the message "Cannot read DVD". So I tried it in our DVD Surround system and it worked great! Then I tried it in the DVD MANY MORE times and kept getting the same message. I went to the product reviews on Amazon and someone said that they experienced the same problem with the error message but they felt that even though they were getting the "cannot read DVD" message,it was still cleaning the DVD player. So I ran it through two more times and it fixed the problem. Our DVD is fixed! The cleaner never did the whole process but it worked anyhow.
