Customer Reviews for Belkin F8B015 Hide Away Cord Concealer White

Works well, not exactly what I expected

It looks nice, has plenty of space. It is NOT resealable, though. If I need to add an additional cable, I would have to just rip it out, and the double-sided tape is VERY strong so I do not plan to remove from the wall as I think that it will pull paint with it. It's a cost-effective solution but not necessarily the most desirable solution.

Does the job well

I recently mounted a flat screen TV on the wall, and I was not very knowledgeable on the items necessary to conceal the wiring. This one looked pretty simple. As it turned out, it did the trick. I also had concerns about how many wires would fit inside and I was able to fit a coaxial cable, two large AV cables (the red, yellow and white ones), as well as, the television power cord. The concealer comes packaged kind of weird, but after construction, it was about as simple as it could get to surround the wires and attach them to the wall using this hide away cord concealer. It's been two weeks and it still holds on the new construction paint (chalky base paint) no problem. My only concern is that it will destroy the painted wall if I ever need to remove it. Once it's stuck in place, that's it! So, be careful and make sure you have it where you want it.

nice cord consealer

this item worked fine to assist in consealing the wiring from my hdtv. i spray painted a section to conform to my existing wall and it looks very good. i do worry about its removal when i need to relocate my tv.

Best wire capacity and length for the buck that I could find

I have an 18 foot wall with the TV/Receiver in the middle and speakers out on the sides plus network, phone and power cables all running along the baseboard. I needed a product that could hold a lot of wires and came in decent lengths at a reasonable cost. This product by Belkin fit all the requirements. As others have said, this product is not rigid and comes in a box that's about 5 inches cubed with the concealer all rolled up. I bought two of them, one to house all the cables running left of the TV and one for all the cables going right of the TV. First thing i noticed is that there is a 1/2 foot discrepancy between what is advertised and what you get, it's actually only 7 1/2 feet long not 8 as advertised. So keep that in mind when measuring. There are two adhesive strips, one thick one which is used to secure the concealer to a surface like the floor, baseboard or wall and one thinner one which is used to seal the concealer in it's rectangular shape. I would recommend that you stick the concealer unfolded to your surface first. When I put together my first one, i unrolled it and then used the thinner strip to stick the edges together to form the shape of the concealer. However over the 7 1/2 foot run I ended up getting a corkscrew effect , it wouldn't go together flat. So I took it apart and then stuck it to the floor board, gathered my cables and then sealed the concealer up in it's rectangle shape and that worked great. One thing to note is that it's somewhat difficult to add cables later. YOu don't want to break the seal too many times or the concealer won't seal on the edge and it'll just flop open and won't do it's job. So make sure your cable arrangement is pretty firm before you put them all in this product and seal up the edge. In the one i have mounted right now (i've only done one of the two) there is a 16 gauge speaker cable, a two prong power extension cord, a speaker cable and an RCA video cable and there's probably still 1/2 it's capacity left for more cables. The other side which i haven't mounted yet because i'm not firm on the wiring will have two network cables, a 16awg speaker cable, a regular 2 wire speaker cable and a phone line cable and a cable TV cable. I'm not sure if that's all going to fit, it'll be close. I've mounted this concealer to the baseboard which is white so it blends in really well with behind the concealer and the end result is very nice and clean. I looked at a bunch of different wire management products but nothing could touch the length and capacity you get for the money that this Belkin product gives you so i'm giving it 5 stars. I almost forgot to add, the outside dimension when it's all folded together is ~3/4" on the narrow side by 1 1/8 inches on the wide side so the inside dimensions will be slightly less than that.

one problem

This product must be folded into the shape. Cords fit easily inside. There's two adherent strips, one to hold it's rectangular shape, the other to adhere it to the wall. Although the strip adhered and held the item to the wall, I found that the adherent strip to hold it into it's rectangular shape was not strong enough. I needed to use scotch tape to keep it closed.
