I did buy these adapters because of how cheap and reasonably priced they are so I wan't expecting anything awesome. They do work, fit my need, but you can tell the quality and design isn't the best.

I wouldn't use these all the time but they are very handy to have when you don't have the right size battery. They are definitely great to have in a pinch! I just make sure I get the right size battery ASAP as an AA battery doesn't last long in something that needs a D.

Yes, a AA battery will fit inside this thing. No, a AA battery doesn't last very long compared to a D cell battery. I bought one of these for a baby bouncy seat. AA batteries don't last a day, when Ever-ready rechargable D cell batteries lasted a week or more. Not a product problem by any means, but the whole idea ends up being not so great. If you've got something that takes D cell batteries, probably whoever designed it figured out the smaller, lighter, cheaper AA batteries wouldn't do the job. Don't second guess the designer. Use real D cells.

I've used a similar product by Panasonic which was MUCH better made, but I haven't found the Panasonic brand adapters sold outside of a Costco rechargeable battery kit. The 4 Lenmar AA-to-D adapters do work but they are inconsistent in how well your AA batteries fit inside. 2 of the 4 adapters worked normally for me while the other 2 were too loose or the AA battery didn't snap into place when inserted - and I tried several AA batteries with the same results. These Lenmar's are cheaply made but they will work. I don't recommend putting these adapters into service where you're going to have to change-out batteries all the time.
