Works great
This item works great and allows ample depth for even the deepest of units. The vents in the back combined with the air circulation of the unit allows for ample cooling to keep the doors of the Synergy cabinet closed during use. Only complaint was that the item was bent when unpacked and required some work to get it to fit right on the unit.
BEWARE OF DESIGN CHANGE IF YOU HAVE OLDER PANELS!
I have owned many Synergy products over the years, from my initial Single 40 to a Twin 30 for my 2-channel system, and my relatively new Triple 20 for my video system. In general, I love the looks and build quality of the Synergy line, and the ability to customize, along with the infinitely adjustable shelves, make for a great overall system. Having recently expanded from a Twin 20 to the Triple 20 for the video system, I already had two of the extended rear panels. I have had these two panels for about two or three years now. so I installed them on the Triple 30, with one bay left open until I got around to buying a third panel. So...I finally ordered a third panel to complete the Triple rack, but discovered some "good news/bad news" upon its arrival this past March: The "GOOD" - the new panel design is deeper, going from 2" to a generous 3.5" deep. I noticed this about a year ago when I added two SA/XR/30 panels to my 2-chaneel's Twin 30 rack. So I was happy with this bonus feature...but... The "BAD" - the predrilled holes on the new S20 panels (for securing to the threaded inserts with the knurled knobs) DO NOT line up with the holes on the older panels! I don't know if I got a mis-manufactured panel or what. Needless to say, I was pretty disappointed in this apparent design change by Salamander. So I had to have some new, appropriately-located holes drilled out on the new panel to match my two older panels. So if you are adding more S20 panels to an existing setup with the older (2" deep) panels, just keep this in mind. If you are adding panels for the first time, then you should be good to go... Note that the current picture is of the older-style panel. The new one only has three openings along the angled top panel, and shows the old mounting hole locations. 5 stars for general usage of this panel, 2 stars for changing the design.
