Product Description
The Blu-ray revolution continues with the Sony BDP-S350 Blu-ray Player. You can take full advantage of the Bonus View feature of select Blu-ray movies, and are ready to dive into BD-Live when the update is available. In true Sony fashion, the BDP-S350 will output a Full 1080/24p True Cinema picture, plus upscale your existing DVD collection to 1080p as well, when using the HDMI connection. On board decoding for Dolby TrueHD is here, also the ability to send out the bitstream for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD (Master Audio & High Resolution) as well. BRAVIA sync ensures that with the touch of a button, you can easily power on and synch the inputs of compatible Sony compatible BRAVIA flat-panel LCD HDTV sets and Sony audio/video devices connected to the players, via HDMI, for hassle-free enjoyment of high-definition Blu-ray Discs. Bringing it all together is the new Xcross Media Bar menu system, which is an icon based menu system for simple navigation of the BDP-S350’s menu system.
Do not buy it - No Disc Error message after one year of low usage
After a year and a half, my BD player stop working, a "No Disc" error mesaage is displayed for any disk inserted into the player. I did a firmware upgrade and tried a lot of options witouth any result. After browsing at Internet I found this is a common failure for this device.
Died in 16 months
This Blu Ray so picture quality is obviously good. The setup menu is pretty and works well. Adjusting settings whilst watching a disk is also easy. The AV sync is often wrong but at least you can modify it easily. What's not so good is that almost every disk doesn't permit you to resume watching after stopping. What's even worse is that, 16 months after buying it, it suddenly ceased working whilst watching a Blu Ray disk. It just stopped reading disk. I tried several different disks (including DVDs) and each time the device complains that no disk was inserted. My bet is that the laser has died. Looking at other's comments this seems to be a common complaint. Sony will do an exchange with a refurbished unit but, because I'm out of warranty, I'll have to pay $112. I've opted to buy a new Panasonic BD65 instead for $114.
Wow what a beautiful picture
Got this player at a great price and I have never seen such nice picture quality. I highly recommend this player you won't be disappointed.
Disappointed in SONY quality
I bought this blu-ray player in Feb-09 and ever since I had trouble with it; it constantly needs new firmware updates, because as new movies come out, they require newer firmware. Its a pain and disappoinment because you bring a movie home, but can't watch for another week or so untill you get new firmware from Sony (make a call, request it). Soon after, it broke and stopped playing blu-ray disks at all. Well, Sony repaired it since it still had warranty, and I got it back. It played only 2 blu-ray disks, and afterwards it does not play them anymore. It also has trouble playing movies at standard format. What a waste of $299+tax! My boyfriend has a cheap blu-ray player for a year now, it plays everything without any problems/updates!!!!
blue- ray player
It functions well. For blue-ray disks it does not automatically return where you left off after stopping the machine.
