I ordered and received this set about a week ago through one of Amazon's partners (the one currently being used at this writing). Anyway, more about the set and the free delivery later. Both the decision to buy this TV and the method of delivery were extremely important to me for budget considerations. And nerve wracking! But I'd had my eye on this Toshiba for over 6 months and now I believe it's been discontinued; which made my stress levels even higher!! My advice? Buy it as soon as you can! The set itself is my dream come true. The picture is phenomenal compared to the others I've viewed in this size range (Sony, Samsung and Sharp). The picture is simply...better. Very black blacks! Incredibly sharp and bright, with no banding, ghosting. Standard TV and DVD replay is good, not great. This set apparently plays exactly whatever "feed" it gets. So it can be spectacular one moment or not so sharp the next (though standard reception still is watchable). It's the HD reception that "knocks your socks off"! And I can see no "blur" on fast action sequences, whether with sports or movies when it's getting HD reception. The non-glare screen is another big plus! No reflections of the lamps behind you, sun, etc. on this set. It's crystal clear, bright and sharp in any room light. What can I say? I love this Toshiba! Now about the shipping. It was "free" and to "my door". The driver was very professional and friendly. Unloaded the set for inspection and helped me look it over, in depth. It was perfect. So I say "congrats" to Amazon and Sixth Ave. for selling and delivering a great product to me for about a grand or more less than the retail stores here. Don't miss this opportunity if you're looking for a great 52" HDTV!

The Toshiba REGZA 52HL167 52-inch 1080p LCD HDTV that I purchased thru Amazon is a great product. Delivery and set up went smoothly and as promised. The product is everything I expected and more. I needed a screen that wouldn't reflect light since the TV is near large windows. Other reviews said this TV would fit the bill and indeed it does.

I had this TV for exactly one month. Luckily I could send it back for a full refund. The TV stopped turning on. Tried different outlets, differnt electronics in the outlets everything else worked fine. The TV did look good for the time I had it. But it lacks a few feature other TVs in its price range have, like Picture in Picture or USB viewing (the one on this is just for service). From playing games on it there was some blurring with the 8ms reponse time. The sound was decent for TV speakers. The features are lacking compared to other TVs, and the price has gone up, I got it for $1941 and now is about $300 more. Also I should mention it is a very heavy TV for an LCD and thicker than most, just another reason to go with a different TV. If it worked I would give the TV a 3 star review, but I would suggest buying through amazon for the teriffic Customer Service. They extended my return window since I only had 3 days left to return the TV, and it was Saturday and it would take a few business days past my return window to process the return. A hassel but as smoth as can be.

I have a similar Toshiba 47LZ196 that I paid $3499.99 for in Dec. 2006 that is just under 1 year and 2.5 months old and the panel ($3400.00) crapped out on me. After being informed by multiple Toshiba reps that I was in the window to receive assistance I was informed NOTHING would be covered and I was responsible for the cost of the part and repairs. What a joke for a higher end flat panel. One year and almost $4000.00 down the old crapper. Such a shame since I really liked that tv.

After several months of researching I decided on this TV. When I compared it to other 52in HDTV's including Sony, Samsung & Sharp, there was a very noticeable reduction in glare on this set. Actually there were no reflections. Price at Samsung was another factor. Throw in no sales tax their free white glove delivery service and it was a no brainer. I've been watching it for a month and the picture quality is tops. Good menu and very easy to use remote. Extremely happy with it and the delivery service.
